Lekteo

Your invoices, from your assistant

Lekteo also exists as an MCP server: your assistant opens, checks and exports your electronic invoices directly, without leaving the conversation — and without the file leaving your machine.

Installation

Nothing to install as such: the command fetches the server on demand.

Claude Code

claude mcp add lekteo -- npx -y @lekteo/mcp

Claude Desktop: in claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "lekteo": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@lekteo/mcp"] }
  }
}

Other clients: command npx, arguments ["-y", "@lekteo/mcp"], stdio transport. Node 20 or later.

What your assistant can then do

Requests that work as they stand: “open ~/invoices/F2026-114.xml and tell me the amount due”, “is this invoice compliant?”, “check every invoice in this folder and list the ones with a problem”.

Findings are rendered in English, French or German.

Why it runs on your machine

On this site your invoices are read inside your browser, and anyone can verify it by opening the network tab. An assistant does not open a tab.

Serving the same feature from a remote endpoint would have meant uploading your invoices to us: precisely what this product exists to avoid. So the MCP server runs on your machine: the file is read from your disk, parsed in your process, and the answer goes back to your assistant.

The promise is not merely preserved, it widens: it now holds outside the browser too.

Check it rather than believe us

The server performs no network access. No HTTP client, no telemetry, no update check. One command shows it:

grep -c "fetch(\|XMLHttpRequest\|node:http" \
  "$(npm root -g)/@lekteo/mcp/dist/server.js"

The package fails to build if any of those strings appears in the output. It is a build check, not a stated intention.

The wrapper source ships with the package, under Apache 2.0, so you can read it before pointing it at your invoices.

What about the web version?

It is not going anywhere. The two serve different moments: the assistant when you are already working and the question comes up, the site when you simply want to see an invoice, or run a whole folder with an exportable summary.

Same reading engine, same checks, same results.

Frequently asked questions

Are my invoices sent anywhere?

No. The server runs on your machine and contains no network code. The package fails to build if a request function appears in the output, and the verification command is given above.

Which formats are supported?

UBL 2.1, CII D22B, Factur-X, ZUGFeRD and XRechnung, along with Peppol BIS profiles. The format is recognised automatically from the content of the file.

Is it free?

Yes, with no volume or time limit, including for professional use. The wrapper source is Apache 2.0; the reading engine is compiled and stays proprietary, but its use and redistribution are free.
